‘A’OHE LIKE ME ‘OE

19 Mar

I was watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall and I found that the last song at the credit was really nice… It’s first written by Prince and then maybe because the movie took place in Hawaii, the song is translated into Hawaiian. I never heard a song with Hawaiian lyric, so I just wanna share it here. Go listen to the song. (The original song titled Nothing compares 2 U by the Coconutz)

‘A’OHE LIKE ME ‘OE

E lau nā hola, e lau nā lā
I kāohi ‘ia kou aloha
‘Auana i ka pō, hiamoe i ka lā
I kāohi ‘ia kou aloha
I ha’alele aku ‘oe, i kuakahi au
Pau ‘ākoakoa i nā hoa ā pau
‘Ai a ma’ona, e inu a kena
Akā na’e
Akā lu’ulu’u nā waimaka (no ka mea )
‘A’ohe like
‘A’ohe like me ‘oe

Ua mehameha au i ka pō
Me he manu kani ‘ole
E hakuko’i nei i ka pu’uwai
E ō mai, ‘aihea ka hewa
E halihali ana i mau ‘aikane, akā
He hali’a wale no iā ‘oe
Na ku’u haku i mālama ia’u
E ho’oku’u ka na’au
E ho’ole’a a lawa
E ho’ola ke kino
Akā (na’e)
‘A’ohe like
‘A’ohe like me ‘oe

Nā kumula’au i kanu ‘ia i ke kīhāpai
E kali ana i kou ho’i mai
Nipo ninipo i ka ‘ena aloha
Pela ka ‘ano’i ma ka pu’uwai (no ka mea)
‘A’ohe like
‘A’ohe like me ‘oe
‘A’ohe like
‘A’ohe like me ‘oe
‘A’ohe like
‘A’ohe like me ‘oe

“…but life is full of lessons. You learn something new everyday” (quoting from Darald Brayden in the movie)

Cheers,
Vness
